How PFT scoring works

Each event scores up to 100 points (push-ups up to 70) by age group and sex, for a maximum of 300. You need at least 40 points in every event and 150 total to pass.

Altitude-adjusted tables (4,500 ft and above) are not included.

FAQ

What is a passing PFT score?

At least 150 points out of 300, with at least 40 points in each event. 1st Class is 235+, 2nd Class is 200+ and 3rd Class is 150+.

Pull-ups or push-ups?

You can choose either, but push-ups max out at 70 points while pull-ups can earn 100. Marines who want a first-class score usually do pull-ups.

What changed for combat arms Marines in 2026?

From January 1, 2026 (MARADMIN 613/25), Marines with a combat arms primary MOS are scored on the male, age-normed PFT tables regardless of sex and are expected to score at least 210. This applies to the PFT, not the CFT.

Who can row instead of run?

The 5,000 m row is open to Marines 46 and older. Younger Marines can row only for injury or post-partum recovery, with a health care provider's recommendation and CO/OIC approval.

Are crunches still part of the PFT?

No. Crunches ended December 31, 2022. The forearm plank is the only core event, and it uses one table for all ages and both sexes.
